Artwork in collaboration with Hawaii-based Poakalani Quilts.
Poakalani has been a leading supplier of traditional Hawaiian quilts since 1972.
And surprisingly, the Poaklani family and designer JOE are related.
That is why this work came to fruition.
What is Naupaka?
Flowers blooming on Hawaii's beaches and mountains.
Naupaka flowers are only half grown and do not appear fully formed like normal flowers.
Another flower is needed to complete the complete shape.
In Hawaiian lore, the naupaka flower is used in telling legends of love.
Two young lovers are torn apart, one sent to live in the mountains and the other sent to the beach.
When the Beach Naupaka and Mountain Naupaka flowers are reunited, the two young lovers are able to be together again.
The motif is the "Naupaka" flower, which has a very romantic story.
This scarf reproduces a traditional Hawaiian quilt pattern.
【comment】
I like a silk scarf with a traditional Hawaiian quilt pattern (Naupaka pattern) that was made in Yokohama, a scarf production center in Japan.
This time, it can also be used as a belt to accent your outfit.
Recommended as a small gift for someone special.
