Hawaiian sandals "Scott Hawaii"

ハワイのサンダル『Scott Hawaii』

Apparently the rainy season started early this year, but before we knew it, we were already in the middle of the season.
The weather is about to get bad, so maybe the rainy season is about to begin.

The " honeycotech polo shirt " that I have been introducing frequently recently is a product that I put a lot of effort into, so I am very happy with the great response it has received.
I think this will be a great companion for you from the summer you discover it.

And today I would like to introduce some items that you can rely on during the summer.

We would like to introduce you to Scott Hawaii , a sandal company based in Honolulu, Hawaii.

It was founded in 1932!
The company was founded when Elmer and Jean Scott came to Hawaii on vacation, fell in love with the place, and started making boots for people working on pineapple and sugarcane plantations.
Later, due to the effects of World War II, there was a shortage of materials to make boots, so the company switched to making sandals.

I think the most famous Hawaiian sandals are ISLAND SLIPPER, but Scott Hawaii is a longer-established brand.
Being a contrarian myself, that's one of the things I like about him♪

Another big point is that Joe from SALVAGE PUBLIC and Kaione, the current president (third generation president) of Scott Hawaii, were high school classmates.
Last year, when I was in Hawaii, I was talking to Joe and we were talking about Scott. Joe said, "Let's go tomorrow!"
Kaione contacted me and I went to visit their head office (laughs).

A relaxed building typical of Hawaii (lol)

It felt like a laid-back Hawaiian time was flowing inside.

It seems that it is not widely available in Japan, so I heard a lot of stories.
These are the two I chose from the many inline models available.

" Maunaula "

" Kaikane/Ahi "

And since we have the chance, we thought why not do something together with SALVAGE PUBLIC! So we had a meeting to discuss a collaboration model.
Based on the sports sandals that Scott Hawaii sold in the 1980s, these sandals were designed to be even more comfortable to wear.
Neoprene material is used on the inside of the tape to prevent the tape from rubbing, so you won't get tired even if you wear it for a long time.
This pair of shoes combines a firm hold with a gentle fit.

" SALVAGE PUBLIC×Scott Hawaii "

The pop colours of the 80s are a nice accent.
It's hard to see at first glance, but the words SALVAGE PUBLIC are lettered on it.

The sole is also designed with accent colors, even in places you can't see, which is typical of SALVAGE PUBLIC.

As mentioned earlier, the parts that touch the skin are covered with neoprene, so you won't get blisters even if you wear them for a long time.

I'm already having fun trying it out in a variety of styles.

Of course, it's best to wear them on sunny summer days, but I actually highly recommend them for the upcoming rainy season too!
You don't want to get your favorite shoes wet, and wet socks are disgusting... you probably hate rain, don't you? (laughs)
I used to think the same way, but nowadays I enjoy getting wet in the summer when I can wear sandals on rainy days.

In particular, sports sandals like this special order model don't bounce up when you walk.
So, I think these are a pair of shoes that I'll be using quite a lot from now until around September.
And because it's well-made, it will last for years to come.

I haven't made any plans to go to Hawaii yet, but looking back at the photos I took while writing this article made me feel really nostalgic (lol).

We will also introduce the in-line products in the next post.
See you soon
