IVY PREPSTER: A modern take on classic American style
As the name suggests, "IVY PREPSTER" is someone who embodies the IVY STYLE and PREPPY STYLE.
"IVY" refers to the fashion style of students who attended the eight IVY LEAGUE schools in the 1960s, and this style was brought to Japan by Japanese businessman Kensuke Ishizu of VAN, causing a major movement in Japan in the 1960s.
On the other hand, "PREPSTER" or "PREPPY" refers to the fashion style of students attending prep schools with the aim of entering an Ivy League university, and was stylized in LISA BIRNBACH's book "THE OFFICIAL PREPPY HANDBOOK."
In addition to being advocated in Japan by Ishizu Kensuke, "IVY" was stylized as a fashion style through the photographs of Hayashida Akiyoshi and the book "TAKE IVY," co-authored by fashion critic Kurosu Toshiyuki (and also Ishizu Shosuke), while "PREPPY" was stylized as a fashion style through Lisa's book, and they gradually became the norm for men's fashion around the world.
In this context, the contribution of the later book AMETORA by David Marks should also not be forgotten.
